We have our comp coming up and several new people have asked for one, so our next jam session is Tuesday 8th February at Cafe La de da from 5.30 to 7.30pm
We have had some changes to our competion prize, now it's $500 and a nights Bed and Breakfast for two at Ocean International.
Had lots of comment and responce to Janes video about our Latte Art competion ...Mackay Coffee Idol 2011 http://video214.com/play/pX7PFcbrYUGrf9EciLTKDw/s/dark
Help spread the link around please.
Deb from Tafe will run an educational session, at our jam, just to remind us of basics.
I am sure previous contestants will be there and available for 'roasting'.
We won't have the Throwdown element, unless you want to, let us know in the comments section below.
But that's no reason not to bring $5 to chuck in the kitty to cover pizzas.
Oh, and a name sticker, too.

MONTHLY BARISTA JAM AND THROWDOWN.
MACKAY BARISTA JAM SESSION
The first Tuesday of the month [June] would make it this week. But we have had a couple of requests to have our jam session next Tuesday, the 8th June, just this once.
As usual we will kick off at Cafe La de da at 5.30pm and will do our best to be all done by 7pm.
The $5 to cover pizza and the prize pool still stands, and the name tags are a good idea, too.
This is your chance to network in our own industry backyard, learn what's happening and pick up a few pointers that may improve your own skills. And have some fun stretching and growing, and not just milk.
Mackays current Latte Art Champion will be there, and Pauline finds it a pleasure to share, as always.
Merryn has made it to the national finals of the Gloria Jeans barista competition. [High Fives] She wants to practice her finals performance on us, before the playoffs. Merryn will teach us what the judges are looking for. It's no surprise that it will be the same things your customers are looking for, if they had the right words to explain it.
Both will be able to tell you the advantages of being a player in a bigger game.
Sometimes you need to be in the right place, and to hang out with the people who are pushing themselves, to learn just how far we have come in Mackay in the last few years.
This is the right place.

Winners are grinners. The 2010 Pura Milk Latte Art winners.
